  • The fuel-pump driver module controls the high-pressure fuel pumps of modern, computer-controlled, fuel-injected engines, including diesels. The module is typically installed on or very close to the fuel pump, and in the early years of the component's use, this practice led to a design fault.

  • Your F150 does indeed have a fuel pump driver module located above and just ahead of the spare tire. It is attached to a steel cross member with two fasteners. The aluminum base is very susceptible to corrosion being mounted against steel. It is a good idea to check /test this part when having fuel delivery problems.

Zetor 7340 manual. Most Ford Module devices can be rebuilt and fully

programmed by the rebuilder. Due to the requirement to program a control module to your exact VIN, it's just not a good to buy a junk yard module over a rebuilt unit. Simply perform a search for a rebuilder near you and contact them for pricing and programming abilities.

I own 2 Ford Flex's.
The first, a 2015 SEL AWD. I bought the car in 2016 with 29,000 miles and Ford certified. Last year at approximately 65,000 miles on it the car died while driving down the road. I had it towed to the dealership to find out the fuel pump driver module went bad. I paid the $300ish bill and went on down the road. That Flex now has 75,000 miles on it and is good to go.
The second, a 2013 SEL FWD. I bought this car in April with 50,000 miles on it out of Florida. It is a spotless car. Yesterday, at 61,000 miles it would not start. Good strong crank but no start. Had it towed to my local mechanic and guess what.. It has a bad fuel pump driver module. They had it repaired in no time $90 for the part and $80 labor. For $170 and a tow bill I was down the road.

Ford Fuel Pump Module Recall

I was told by both the dealership and my local mechanic that the module was corroded on each car. Neither car showed any ill symptoms prior to the problem. One left me stranded while driving down the road. One left me stranded with a no start. Luckily in my garage rather than in the woods of northern MI where I had been for a week just 3 days earlier.
My local mechanic told me it is an aluminum backed plastic module mounted on a piece of steel. Steel and aluminum don't play well together causing the corrosion and ultimately the failure. I guess the new one mounts with a spacer and they put a thin coat of grease on the aluminum preventing the issue from happening again.
The reason for this thread isn't to complain. It is to warn other Flex owners that a fairly inexpensive preventive maintenance may save you from being stranded.
